Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy exists to keep EduSeat fair, safe, and reliable for every student, lecturer, and administrator who depends on it. It applies to all users of the platform, in addition to our Terms and Conditions.

2. For All Users

  • Do not attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access.
  • Do not submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Do not harass, threaten, or abuse other users of the platform.
  • Do not disrupt, overload, or interfere with the normal operation of EduSeat.

3. For Students

  • Do not check in to a session on behalf of another student ("proxy attendance").
  • You must be physically present on campus when using geolocation-based check-in — do not spoof or fake your location.
  • Do not share attendance codes with students who are absent from the session.
  • Do not attempt to manipulate, alter, or falsify your own or another student's attendance records.

4. For Lecturers

  • Do not share session codes with students before the session has started.
  • End sessions promptly once class has concluded, to prevent late or fraudulent check-ins.
  • Do not falsify, backdate, or otherwise alter attendance records.

5. For University Admins

  • Use student and staff data only for legitimate academic and administrative purposes.
  • Do not share API keys, admin credentials, or login access with unauthorized individuals.
  • Keep student data confidential and handle it in accordance with your university's obligations under our Data Processing Agreement.

6. Consequences of Violations

Violating this policy may result in one or more of the following, depending on severity:

  • Suspension or termination of your EduSeat account.
  • Notification to your university's administration for disciplinary review.
  • Legal action, in the case of serious or repeated violations.
